Carter Named POW

The West Coast League Pitcher of the Week (POW), as announced by league president Donnie Marbut, is second year Falcon Max Carter of the Kelowna Falcons for the week of July 11-17.

Carter, a senior-to-be two-way player at CSUB, led Kelowna to six wins vs. Kitsap to wrap the week; propelling the Falcons into first place in the North Division second-half standings.

This past Thursday, Max took a no-hitter into the 8th inning vs. the BlueJackets and finished with a complete game 8-1 win at Kitsap’s Gene Lobe Field. He struck out 7 while walking two and allowing only two hits and a run. Carter also pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the opener of Kelowna’s series at Kitsap. For the week, he went 7-for-20 at the plate as a designated hitter and first baseman.

Carter is hitting .254 this summer and is 1-0 on the mound with a 1.92 ERA over 5 appearances and 14 innings pitched. This past spring at CSUB, he went 0-8 with a 7.47 ERA over 53 innings pitched, 15 appearances and 8 starts. And as an infielder, he made 56 starts, registered 179 at bats and hit .285.
