Kelowna Falcons

Blowout Loss

The Kelowna Falcons lost the rubber match and the series to the Bend Elks. The Falcons fell in game three by a score of 19-7. Bend was all over the Falcons right from the start and hammered them for innings of four, five and six runs over the course of the game.

The Falcons have now lost both series to the Elks this season. Bend came out and was able to put up some crooked numbers early, which made it tough on the Falcons bats, who competed well throughout the night.

Bryan Donohue, the Falcons head coach, gave his post-game remarks. He said, “It was the start. You can’t get buried that early. I was proud of the effort of our hitters. They kept battling and scoring runs. We still kept going. It’s just unfortunate that we continued to allow such big numbers. Ultimately a loss is a team loss, but moving forward, we need to have a higher level of expectation across the board. If we’re not sharp, these games are the things that can happen.”

The Falcons will be heading to Victoria for a three-game series against the HarbourCats. Donohue is looking forward to the games and said, “We’re looking to move forward into the Victoria series for sure. We have a chance to go out there and make a statement. It’s going to be fun because we have a chance to put them in a bind as far as the standings are concerned. We want to go out there, put some losses on their back and bounce back from tonight.”

Kelowna and Victoria meet Tuesday night at 6:35 pm.
