Kelowna Falcons

Three All-Stars

The Kelowna Falcons in conjunction with the West Coast League (WCL) are proud to announce three players have been selected to the 2017 All-Star Game hosted in Yakima, Washington on July 18th.

Taylor Wright (pictured) has been one of the most consistent hitters in the Falcons line-up.   He leads the team in hits (36), homeruns (8), RBIs (30) and walks (29).  In the field, the shortstop directs the defence and has tallied 65 assists and 29 putouts.

The North Vancouver native is doing all of this as an incoming freshman to the University of Maryland of the Big 10 Conference and is expected to be the starter.

Matt Bottcher has been named an All-Star leading the Falcons in batting average at .382 with 26 hits through 17 games, scored 12 runs, and collected four doubles, a homer and 15 RBIs.

The second baseman has played 99.2 innings and has 47 assists defensively and 17 putouts.

Pitcher Cal Hehnke has been simply outstanding this summer with a perfect 4-0 record.  His ERA sits at 2.63 in eight appearances and has thrown 41 innings.    His strikeouts to walks ratio is terrific fanning 41 batters and allowing just 16 free passes. He’s allowed 12 earned runs.

All three Falcons will travel to Yakima following their home series against the Wentachee Applesox July 14-16th at Elks Stadium.  Tickets for the Falcons-Applesox series can be purchased HERE.

The Falcons have already qualified for the WCL playoffs which opens in early August and will have home field advantage in the divisional playoff round.
