Kelowna Falcons

Walkoff Warriors

The Kelowna Falcons continued their winnings ways by walking off the Walla Walla Sweets to the tune of 8-7. It was a crazy comeback for Kelowna who trailed 7-3 entering the bottom of the ninth.

David Tongue, making his second appearance of the summer, is credited with the win after going three innings and allowing four hits and three runs with all three being earned. He also walked one and struck out one.

The Falcons piled up nine hits, with Alex McGarry crushing his second home run of the season in the ninth inning rally for the Falcons.

Bryan Donohue, the Falcons skipper, gave his thoughts on the team’s performance. He said, “We struggled offensively to start. Their lefty kept us off-balance all game. The Sweets came out swinging and put some pressure on us from the get go. With the regular season winding down, it’s a good reminder that you can’t take anything for granted.”

Donohue also commented on the team’s comeback in the ninth. He said, “It was good to see our team put some good swings on the baseball late. In the last inning, we just strung together quality at-bats. The biggest thing for me is simple. You wait that late in a game to make things happen for you. Against a playoff bound team, that could cost us. However, we were at our best late, which is all that matters.”

The Falcons will try for the home sweep in the final regular season game at Elks Stadium. First pitch goes at 6:35 pm.
