Falcons Win In PA

The Falcons collected their second straight win on Saturday night with a 7-5 victory over the Port Angeles Lefties. They would score twice in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie and held on for the win.

The offence found its stride in the top of the first when All-Star Cole Cummings (pictured) knocked in Austen Butler for the game’s first run. Then in the second Brad Norton scored on a sacrifice fly from Brandon Hupe.

In the third the Lefties took the lead off Falcons’ starter Donovan Baldocchi who gave up three turns over four innings and struck out four.

Cummings would strike again in the fifth inning working a bases loaded walk to tie the game. The next batter was Marcus Guarin and with the bases loaded he delivered a two-out, two run single scoring Butler and Tyler Grissom.

Then in the seventh Cummings and Guarin each knocked in their third RBIs of the game giving the Falcons the lead for good. In all the offence collected 10 hits.

Matt Voelzke came out of the pen and allowed just one base runner over his 3.1 innings of work. He struck out four and recorded his second win of the season.

The Falcons will look for their first series sweep of the year on Sunday afternoon at 1:35pm in Port Angeles as the two teams head into the All-Star break.
