Falcons Edged

Saturday night the Falcons were able to bounce back after an embarrassing Friday night in Corvallis, but still couldn’t solve the Knights losing 6-5.

The ball was put in the hand of Blake Tritch to try and hold down the Knights powerful offensive punch. He was terrific on the bump lasting four innings giving up two runs and scattering five hits while fanning five.

The Falcons offence came alive on Saturday night and took an early lead in the top of the second when Ben Smith brought in James Shimashita on a fielder’s choice. After the Knights took a 2-1 lead in the home half of the third, the Falcons bats tied it in the next inning when Marcus Guarin scored on another fielder’s choice.

In the sixth the Falcons added another run when Shimashita scored again, this time on a Brad Norton sac fly. However the bullpen couldn’t hold down the Knights who scored four runs in their last two at bats to clinch a comeback victory.

Sunday the Falcons will look to salvage a game in this series when Nick Nygard heads to the hill at 3:00pm. The boys won’t be back in town until Tuesday night when the Wenatchee Applesox come to Elks Stadium. Tickets available now.
