Kelowna Falcons

Sharing Knowledge

Recently Falcons General Manager Mark Nonis was a guest speaker at a Central Okanagan Minor Baseball Association meeting.

Mark met with the Kelowna Sun Devils College prep team to discuss his experience from his playing days, athletic training and now on the business side of the sport as the Falcons General Manager.

During his playing days Mark attended Centenary University in Louisiana after graduating from Kelowna Minor Baseball. He was able to continue his baseball career playing at a high level while earning his business degree.

Playing in Louisiana opened some other baseball doors for Mark as he was given a workout with both the Miami Marlins and Kansas City Royals prior to the Major League Baseball Draft; experiences he shared with the prep team.

His first-hand playing knowledge was eye opening for the Sun Devils players, as is his experience currently working in the front office of a West Coast League team. Mark shared how a summer collegiate team is built, what kind of player the Falcons often look for and the mental aspect of the game.

Byron Wilson of the Yard House was also on hand to share his experiences with major league players and what kind of athletic training is critical in developing a young player.

The Falcons are preparing to return to play in June of 2022. Season tickets and 10-game punch cards make a great stocking stuffer and are available now by contacting the Falcons headquarters at 250-763-4100.
