Kelowna Falcons

Burn Fund Donation

The weather finally gave the Kelowna Falcons a decent night at Elks Stadium, but the Nanaimo NightOwls spoiled the party handing the hosts a 7-2 defeat, scoring early and often.

Starting pitcher Hiroyuki Yamada was beat up early allowing three runs in the top of the first inning which set the tone for the entire game. Overall, he coughed up five runs on six hits, for his worst outing of the summer season and was hit with the loss.

The Falcons offence didn’t help much either with just four hits over the course of the game. Jeter Ybarra had two of those hits, both singles. Owen Prendergast and Matthew Baughn each scored a run while newcomer Konnor Palmeira came off the bench for a base knock and RBI.

Following the game, the fans were treated to an incredible fireworks show that lasted over 20 minutes as well earlier in the night a $10,000 donation was made to the BC Burn Fund. Thursday was the annual Falcons-Firefighters Night at the Ballpark and despite the final score the fans enjoyed a memorable evening.

The Falcons and NightOwls have Friday off, before running to Elks Stadium for a doubleheader on Saturday with game 1 starting at 4:00pm. Fans can enjoy two games on Saturday for the price of one as game 2 is set for 6:35pm, reserve your tickets HERE.
