Kelowna Falcons

Rained Out

Mother Nature wants the Kelowna Falcons to wait at least one more day.

Due to the consistent rain overnight and this afternoon, the Falcons home opener on Friday night has been postponed. The game will be made up on Saturday part of a doubleheader with the Victoria Habourcats scheduled for 4:00pm and 6:35pm. Both games will be shortened to seven innings.

The Falcons have also made the difficult decision to postpone Saturday night’s fireworks show because of the stormy weather forecast this weekend. “We don’t want to take the chance and disappoint our fans,” says General Manager Mark Nonis. “Looking at the forecast, postponing the fireworks now gives our fans a chance to make plans accordingly.”

The fireworks show has been rescheduled to Friday June 17th when the Falcons make history and host the Kamloops Northpaws in a celebration of a natural rivalry born. The Northpaws are playing in their inaugural season in the West Coast League.

Following the game on the 17th the sky will be lit up with spectacular fireworks that fans will be able to enjoy. It will be the first of two nights that will conclude with fireworks. The other on Thursday June 23rd for the annual Firefighters Burn Fund Fundraising night. Tickets are available now.

“We are disappointed that Mother Nature isn’t playing nice today as we were all excited to play our first game in over 1,000 days. I guess good things are worth waiting for,” said Nonis.

If fans purchased tickets online for Friday night’s free game, those tickets will be valid for the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader at 4:00pm.

Following this weekend, the Falcons are set to host the Ridgefield Raptors for the first time on Tuesday to open up a three-game series.
