Kelowna Falcons

A Tough Pair

Under an extremely hot sunshine on Wednesday the Kelowna Falcons dropped both games of the doubleheader with the Port Angeles Lefties; 5-3 and 4-0.

In game one, both teams scored a run in the first inning, the Falcons getting theirs after a lead-off triple by Damian Stone. The next batter Kam Edwards knocked him in with an RBI groundout.

After Port Angeles took a one-run lead in the third, the Falcons offence scored a pair in the bottom of the fourth. Nico Button smashed a two-out double to score Jeter Ybarra who walked earlier in the inning, then Luke Solis scored on a wild pitch to give the home side the lead.

However, the Lefties tied the game in the fifth then took the lead for good in the sixth inning with two runs. Sam Hasegawa was hit with the loss in game one.

In the second game of the twin bill the Falcons offence was handcuffed by the Lefties starter, the lefthanded Owen Dueck. Hits and base runners were difficult to find and in the end the Falcons fell 4-0.

The Falcons and Lefties will play the final game of the series today (Thursday) at 6:35pm. It’s Beach Night, and Mother Nature has decided to give Kelowna the ultimate beach weather. Wear your flipflops, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen and pick-up your tickets at the front gate as of 5:30pm.
