Kelowna Falcons

Apple Sauced

The Kelowna Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, then let the pitching staff take over beating the Wenatchee Applesox 4-2 on Thursday evening.

The first inning was highlighted by a Konnor Palmeira three-run homer, his first of the season scoring Damian Stone and Luke Solis ahead of him. Later in the inning Troy McCain knocked in Shea Thomas for the fourth run, chasing the Applesox starter from the game.

From there the pitchers took over. Starter Casey Spencer threw three innings striking out one, then Cameron Solitz came out of the pen for the next three innings and struck out five but did give up two runs. Trent Merrill pitched the seventh and eighth striking out two giving the ball to closer Dylan Berry who picked up the save throwing a scoreless ninth.

The win moves the Falcons to third place, sitting 6.5 games behind Bellingham and Kamloops. The Falcons head back out on the road for a six-game swing starting in Edmonton on Friday night. They return to Elks Stadium on Friday July 15th to welcome the Walla Walla Sweets to town.
