Kelowna Falcons

Tough Series Finale

Sunday night the Kelowna Falcons fell to the Yakima Pippins 12-6 in the final game of the series despite out hitting them.

After the Pippins scored in the bottom of the first the Falcons offence bounced back in the top of the third. Damian Stone and Kam Edwards (pictured) got on base to lead off the inning, followed by a two-run triple from Jake Steels. He would then score on a Luke Solis groundout.

The lead didn’t last long as the Pippins scored five times in the bottom half of the inning off starter Sam Hasegawa. But the offence came right back again to tie the game in the top of the fourth by scoring three more runs. Steels again had his hand in the inning, knocking in Stone, then he himself scored on a double from Solis. Two batters later Makana Olaso doubled home Solis with what would be the last run the offence could generate.

In the fifth the Pippins scored what turned out to be the winning run, then added some insurance in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Falcons are back at Elks Stadium on Monday night to take on the Kamloops NorthPaws in a massive rivalry game with playoff positioning on the line. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm and tickets will be available at the gate.
