Falcons Hang On
For the second straight night Sam Flores hit a homerun in a Kelowna Falcons 6-5 victory on Friday night in Wenatchee against the Applesox.
The two-run homer was in the top of the sixth inning on the first pitch he saw placing it over the rightfield wall. It turned out to be the game winning hit and run scored. Flores finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored on the evening as the Falcons won their second consecutive game and eighth of the season.
In all, the offence tallied 10 hits, a pair by JP Smith (pictured) who also knocked in three-runs. Griffith Palfrey and Raphael Smeenk collected a multi-hit night.
On the mound, after giving up two runs in the first inning, starter Nolan Patterson settled in and struck out four over the course of three innings. Teagan Ribbink came out of the pen and was brilliant striking out seven in six innings, giving up just one earned run while recording the win.
The Falcons and Applesox will play game two of the three-game weekend set on Saturday night, first pitch is set for 6:35pm as Troy Shepard is the scheduled starter.
