Cats Claw Falcons

It was not the night we were looking for on Monday falling 12-3 to the visiting Victoria Harbourcats to open a three-game series at Elks Stadium.

After the Harbourcats took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, our offence tied it in the second. Ryan Degroot knocked in Eddie Fines then scored later in the inning to draw us even.

In the fourth the ‘Cats retook the lead for good when the pitching staff found it difficult to find the strike zone.  The visitors scored three times without getting a hit, then added seven more runs on three hits in the seventh inning.

In all, four pitchers issued 12 walks and hit three batters.

Vince Gamberdella recorded a hit, a stolen base, then scored our final run in the bottom of the sixth to draw us to within two before everything unraveled in the seventh.  Nate Gray Jr was quietly excellent again at the plate recording two more hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Tuesday Thomas Reinholt will get his second start of the season looking to get our club back in the win column.  It’s also country night at the ballpark so bring all your yahoos and join us when the gates open at 5:30pm followed by the opening pitch at 6:35pm.  Reserve your tickets HERE.
