Tough Night in Edmonton
Another tough start for a Falcons starting pitching as the Riverhawks scored three times in the first and once in the second en route to a 5-0 victory in Edmonton.
Starter Jackson Mayo settled in after the first inning but the damage was already done. He gave up three runs in the bottom of the first inning on three hits, walked one, hit a batter and committed an error. In all he would walk five and suffered the loss as the offence was held off the scoresheet.
Ethan Coronel came out of the bullpen and was outstanding in his four innings of work striking out five and only surrendering a hit.
On the offensive side lead-off man Nate Gray Jr continues to have a hot bat collecting four more hits including a double but would be stranded each time he reached base. Jacob Campagna had two hits in the game and Sam Flores returned to the line-up to collect the other one.
Tuesday night the Falcons (2-5) will meet the Riverhawks (6-4) looking to snap a two-game slide in game two of the series. Gus McKay will take to the mound for the visitors. WATCH HERE
The Falcons return to Elks Stadium on Friday night to open a three-game weekend series with the Bellingham Bells. It’s also Minor Ball Night, so kids and coaches wearing their minor ball jersey will receive a free ticket to the game.
