Extra Innings Loss

It was a tough night for the Falcons on Sunday dropping an 8-5 decision in 11 innings to the Port Angeles Lefties who complete the three-game sweep at Elks Stadium.
The Lefties struck first in the second inning off starter JJ Hollis. Neither offence did much after that until the Falcons cut the lead in half with a single run in the fifth inning.
In the eighth both teams combined for five runs. The Lefties scored twice to take a three-run lead, which didn’t last long because the Falcons erupted for three runs in the bottom half and tied it.
Nothing happened in the ninth, so it was off to extra innings. In the 11th the Lefties went to work, scoring four times and took a commanding lead. The Falcons answered with one in the bottom half, but it wasn’t enough dropping their 28th game of the season.
The Lefties will head to Nanaimo and the Falcons will stay at home and welcome the Wenatchee Applesox for a three-game set beginning on Monday. Be one of the first 150 fans through the gates and receive a free autographed team ball courtesy of Tim Hortons.
