Big Bats In Win

It was the most balanced offensive game the Falcons have put together this season in an impressive 12-3 victory over the visiting Edmonton Riverhawks.

Six of the nine starters had a multi-hit game as they collected 15 as a team led by Aidan Kuni who had three hits, and four RBIs beginning with a first-inning homerun to set the tone. Trey Duffield tallied a pair of hits and collected three RBIs and Christian Salazar had three hits and scored twice.

The bats came alive early scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning giving starter Gus McKay a cushion to settle in and just pitch…and pitch he did!  He threw six innings of shutout ball giving up just two hits en route to his first victory of the summer.

The Falcons added a run in the bottom of the fifth when Nate Castellon knocked in Kuni from second, then exploded for six more in the eighth inning slamming the door on the Riverhawks.  Duffield brought home a pair in the inning, Kuni and Matthew Pena each collected an RBI and a defensive error drove in another.

Thursday night the Falcons and Riverhawks will meet for the final time this season in what has been a spirited series to this point.   Zach Sutton will get the start for the Falcons on the bump while the Riverhawks will counter with right hander David Stuart who recorded a win against the Falcons in Edmonton last week.

It’s also the annual fire fighter’s night at the ballpark with all ticket sales being donated to the BC Burn Fund.  Join us for bouncy castles, a dunk tank and all the fun.  The gates open at 5:30pm, with the first pitch set for 6:35pm.  Tickets are available in advance HERE.
