Da Falcons Meet Da Bears
The Falcons will open a three-game weekend series in Longview, Washington on Friday when they meet the Cowlitz Black Bears.
After a day off on Thursday, the Falcons are coming off a thrilling 11th inning win on Wednesday night over the Nanaimo NightOwls to salvage a game in that series. Through the first six games of the second half the Falcons are playing .500 baseball at 3-3.
This is the only meeting of the season between these two clubs and first since 2019.
The Black Bears have struggled all season and are coming off an 11-2 loss to the Bend Elks on Wednesday night. They have lost seven of their last eight games and already find themselves 4.5 games back of a playoff spot through the first five games of the second half. Offensively as a team they are hitting .241 while on the mound their staff has a team ERA of five.
Despite losing the series in Nanaimo, the Falcons are one game back of first place in the North Division and are no doubt looking forward to coming back home. This is the final series of the nine-game road trip. After Sunday’s game they will head home and prepare for a game with the Kamloops NorthPaws on Tuesday at Elks Stadium. Both Trey Duffield and Gavyn Jones will no doubt miss that game as they head to Bellingham for the West Coast League All-Star Game on Wednesday.
Tickets for Tuesday’s match-up are available online HERE. Book your summer parties at the ballpark now because there are only 11 home games left. Connect with Alex Draper to reserve your date, email adraper29@shaw.ca.
