Falcons Drop Morning Finale

In a rare Wednesday morning game, the Falcons and Riverhawks wrapped up their three-game series in Edmonton.

The game started so well for the visiting Falcons, scoring three times in the top of the first inning, all with two-out.  Both Trey Duffield and Gavyn Jones collected back-to-back ground rule doubles in the inning bringing home three runs.  Unfortunately, the bats were quiet after that.

The Riverhawks scored four times in the second inning, added two in the sixth and then five more in the eighth inning to claim an 11-4 victory.   The Falcons used seven pitchers who combined to toss just one strikeout in the setback.

The only other run the Falcons scored was in the fifth on a bases loaded walk giving Raphael Smeenk an easy RBI. Both Duffield and Jones finished with two hits a piece and combined for four of the six team hits.

Friday night the Falcons (3-6) are back at Elks Stadium to open a three-game weekend series with the Bellingham Bells (6-4).  Friday night is Minor Ball Night, players and coaches wear your Kelowna or West Kelowna minor ball jersey and get a free ticket, Saturday night 103.1 Beach Radio and 104.7 The Lizard will be on location with some of their DJs taking in the game, keep listening for your chance to win tickets and then Sunday is Father’s Day.   Bring dad to the ballgame and he gets a ticket for half off.
