Falcons Fall In Nanaimo
Tuesday night the Falcons got the baserunners they needed but couldn’t get the timely hit falling 11-5 in Nanaimo to the NightOwls.
The home side jumped on Falcons starter Ben Schroeder in the third inning with a pair of runs then added seven more in fourth off Schroeder and reliever Dylan Vinson. Of the nine runs they scored over the course of those two innings, only five of them were earned.
Offensively the Falcons finally got on the board in the sixth with two runs including an RBI single from Nick Castellon. Then in the seventh Trey Duffield and Myles Walton each scored to cut the lead in half, but the visitors were still down by five runs.
In the Falcons eighth the first two batters were retired before Duffield belted the first pitch he saw over the fence for his fourth homerun of the season, on the same day he was named to the WCL All-Star Game.
Unfortunately, that was the closest the Falcons would come dropping their second straight game.
The Falcons collected 10 hits in the ballgame led by Walton’s three hit night. Duffield and Christian Salazar each had two hits in the loss.
Wednesday night the Falcons and NightOwls will meet for the final time this season as the Falcons try to salvage a win in the series. Nolan Larsen will get his first start on the mound.
The Falcons will have Thursday off before they head to Cowlitz for a three-game series with the Black Bears before finally returning to Elks Stadium on Tuesday to meet the Kamloops NorthPaws.
Book your summer parties at the ballpark and let the Falcons take care of everything including the cleanup. Contact Alex Draper at adraper29@shaw.ca to reserve your spot.
