Life changing, rewarding and memorable

Host a Kelowna Falcon

The Kelowna Falcons are in search of host families for the upcoming season.

At the collegiate level, teams frequently take advantage of billeting for young players. Billeting can be a beneficial experience for both players and host families. For billet families, it means opening up their homes to aspiring baseball players, giving them an opportunity to share experiences within the billet family unit.  For the player, it’s a chance to share different cultural and social experiences while developing their skills.

Our billet program welcomes players from across Canada and the United States and our dedicated Billet Coordinator facilitates the process of placing our athletes in a safe and supportive environment during their time in the Okanagan. The Billet Coordinator also supports billet families throughout the season, ensuring athletes maintain respect and abide by the guidelines set out by the league.

HOST FAMILIES

Host families are expected to provide a safe, clean and healthy home for billeted players.

Host families are expected to report to the Billet Coordinator with any concerns.

BILLETED ATHLETES

There are certain expectations that a billeted player is required to uphold. When billeted in someone’s home, players are expected to be polite and courteous at all times and offer assistance to the host family. Billets are asked to follow any house rules and to speak with coaches or parents they are unsure about anything.

If you’re interested in hosting a Falcons player, please contact our Billet Coordinator at (250) 859-3969 or email: glenc.kelownafalcons@gmail.com.

Host Family FAQ

Host families receive a grocery allowance, two season tickets and a special BBQ at the end of the season.

A billet family is required to provide the following:

  • A private bed for each player (players can share a room with another player, but need to have their own bed)
  • Access to a bathroom
  • Meals/food for player(s) when they are in town
  • Access to your laundry equipment (players do their own laundry)
  • Assist with arranging player transportation to/from the ballpark as needed (some players will have their own vehicles and often players will carpool with each other)

Falcons players begin to arrive in late May or early June and the season comes to an end mid-August.  The players are on the road for approximately half of the season.

Potential billet families are asked to contact our Billet Coordinator to discuss the program further.

Typically, Falcons billet families will take in one to two players into their homes.
