McKay Deals, Bats Get Hot

Tuesday night the Falcons offence exploded for 11 runs on 16 hits and smashed the Kamloops NorthPaws 11-1 to extend their winning streak to four games.

The scoring started in the third inning when Trevor Wilson knocked in Raphael Smeenk and Sam Flores with a two-out single.  In their next at bat, the Falcons struck for three more.  After the bases were loaded, Christian Salazar was issued a walk recording an RBI, then Smeenk doubled to score Jacob Campagna and Raydley Legito.

Meanwhile on the mound Gus McKay (pictured) was tossing a wonderful game, not allowing the NorthPaws offence to counter.  He would eventually record the win giving the pitching staff a much needed rest, lasting eight innings, striking out five and scattering six hits.

The Falcons’ run production continued in the eighth when Trey Duffield blasted a two-run triple scoring Smeenk and Matthew Pena but was then stranded at third.  In the ninth the Falcons added four more with Legito and Pena driving in runs before Duffield collected two more RBIs with a two-out double.

Duffield finished with four RBIs and a pair of extra base hits, Smeenk was outstanding with three hits and drove in two, and Campagna also had three hits.  Legito and Pena carried a hot bat, each with a couple of base knocks, and every batter in the line-up had at least one hit.

The Falcons will try to continue their winning ways on Wednesday night at Elks Stadium with the NorthPaws in town as part of a home-and-home series.  Zach Sutton will start on the mound on Bell Media Night with the first pitch at 6:35pm.  Fans have been winning their way into the game with 99.9 Virgin Radio, 101.5 Move Radio and AM 1150.  Tickets can also be purchased in advance HERE.
