Sewell Powers Falcons

The Falcons opened their six-game road trip with a much-needed win in Port Angeles on Friday night beating the Lefties 6-3.

Offensively the runs started in the fifth as they put up crocked numbers in four consecutive innings from the fifth to the eighth.  Jacob Devenny opened the scoring with a two-out single in the fifth to bring home Nate Gray Jr who had doubled one batter earlier.   In the sixth Cameron Sewell (pictured) launched his first homerun of the season, a two-run shot scoring Matthew Pena ahead of him. That blast would tie the game at that point.

In the seventh the Falcons tallied what would be the game winning run as Gray Jr scored on a wild pitch after singling earlier in the inning.  Then in the eighth they would add some insurance when Brecken Menuet scored on another wild pitch before Gavyn Jones knocked in Eddie Fines.

As a team the Falcons knocked out 13 hits led by Devenny who collected three and had an RBI while Gray Jr, Sam Flores, Pena and Sewell each had a multi-hit game.  Sewell had a double to complement his homer and had a pair of runs driven in.

On the mound, JJ Luna threw four innings of shutout baseball scattering three hits and struck out one.   Lyndon Sinclair recorded the win throwing three innings and Isaac Godard tallied the save facing the minimum in the ninth which included a pick-off after a lead off walk.

The Falcons meet the Lefties again on Saturday night looking for continued success.  The first pitch is set for 6:35pm and fans can WATCH HERE.
