Sox Steal Win
Tuesday night the Falcons scored four runs in the first two innings in Wenatchee but couldn’t hold down the Applesox and suffered a 7-5 loss, dropping their second straight game.
The offence scored in the top of the first inning when the Falcons loaded the bases before Brecken Menuet was hit by a pitch to score the opening run. The lead, however, didn’t last long as the Applesox struck three times in the bottom of the inning to take the lead off starter Gus McKay.
In their very next at bat the Falcons offence came right back and retook the lead with three runs of their own. Jacob Devenny led off the inning with a triple, then scored on the next pitch when Jacob Campagna lifted a sac fly to rightfield. After Trevor Wilson walked two batters later, Sam Flores blasted his first homer of the season, a two-run shot giving the visitors a 4-3 lead.
The Sox would tie it in the third, then take the lead for good in the sixth inning with a pair of runs.
In the eighth the Falcons pushed one more run across on an RBI sac fly off the bat of Cameron Sewell, but that’s as close as they would come.
Offensively the club collected seven hits, with Menuet collecting two of them. Three of the team’s seven hits were for extra bases.
On Wednesday night the Falcons will wrap up the series and the six game road trip meeting the Applesox. JJ Luna will get the start for the Falcons, trying to hold down this high-powered Sox offence.
The Falcons return to Elks Stadium on Friday night to meet the Yakima Pippins to open a three-game weekend series. Friday night is Ladies Night with a glass of wine half price, the Saturday the first 50 fans will receive a complimentary action photo courtesy of Tami Quan Photography, then Sunday is Family Pack Night, receive four hotdogs, four pops and four tickets for just $75.00.
