Shaver Joins Staff

The Falcons are pleased to announce that Nate Shaver has joined the team as an Assistant Coach.  He comes from the New Mexico State Aggies program; who led the Western Athletic Conference with 340 RUNS, 310 RBI and 275 BB in 2014.

Coach Shaver has also had a hand in the development of numerous Aggies, helping to develop Eight 1st team and Six 2nd team All-WAC selections, plus 3 MLB draft picks and 3 MLB free agent signees.

A northwest native, Shaver played junior college baseball for Mt. Hood CC in Gresham, OR. He was a NWAACC All-Conference selection as an outfielder in 2008.

Shaver was the everyday right fielder for NM State from 2009-10, while recording 12 assists. He was a 2009 All-WAC honoree, a 2010 WAC All-Tournament selection, a two-time WAC Hitter of the Week and a two-time WAC All-Academic selection.

During his career at NM State, Shaver compiled a .355 batting average, .471 on base percentage, and 1.025 OPS. He recorded 159 hits, 35 doubles, 14 home runs, 86 walks, 109 RBI and 137 runs.

After a solid collegiate career, Shaver played for the Haysville Heat of the Jayhawk baseball league. He helped lead the Heat to a Jayhawk League Championship and a third place finish at the NBC World Series.

After the 2010 campaign, he was invited to join the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier Professional Baseball League for the 2011 season. After suffering a career ending arm injury, Shaver returned to NM State and earned his MS degree in Biology in 2013. He is currently pursuing a PhD concentrated in Sport Psychology and Curriculum & Instruction at NMSU, which is scheduled for completion the summer of 2016.

Nate Shaver will join Manager Billy Clontz and Pitching Coach Dylan Jones, who are entering their 2nd season with Kelowna.
