Pilots Fly North

A pair of Pilots will trek north this summer as left handed pitcher Nick Nygard and outfielder Gabe Skoro (pictured) from the University of Portland are set to join the Falcons for the 2019 season.

Skoro is a name Falcons fans may be familiar with as he played last season with the Portland Pickles in their inaugural campaign in the West Coast League. The Portland, Oregon native enjoyed a terrific first season in the WCL, collecting 30 hits in 95 at-bats for a .316 average to go along with a home run and 10 RBI’s. The 6’2”, 185-pound outfielder is fresh off of his sophomore season with the Pilots where he hit .239 in 30 games played, earning 21 hits in 88 at-bats along with 6 doubles and a home run with 12 RBI’s.

Nygard, a freshman with the Pilots, had a very strong high school career at Columbia River High School. The 5’9”, 175-pound lefty was a two-time selection to the All-GSHL First Team while striking out a team-best 70 batters in just 36 innings pitched. The Vancouver, Washington native has been a part of some big moments as well, tossing back-to-back no-hitters in his junior season, combining to strike out 32 batters in those two contests.

The Falcons will open their 2019 season on the road against the Bellingham Bells beginning on Tuesday, June 4th before coming back to Kelowna for their home-opening series to host the newest team in the WCL, the Ridgefield Raptors for a three-game series beginning on Friday, June 7th.
