Sox Even Series

Saturday night the Kelowna Falcons had a late inning surge but fell just a bit short in a 10-7 setback to the Wenatchee Applesox.
The Falcons couldn’t find their offence until the eighth inning on Saturday night, finally breaking through and scoring six of their seven runs after being shutout for the first seven innings. The offence used a combination of walks and timely hitting sending 12 men to the plate in the inning.
Unfortunately for the Falcons the Applesox didn’t seem phrased by the big inning, responding with five runs in the bottom of the eighth to regain the lead, holding it for good. Their victory snapped the Falcons two-game winning streak and evened the weekend series.
Griffin Palfrey was hit with the loss giving up five runs, but only two of them were earned. Overall, the defence committed three errors leading to three unearned runs.
Sam Flores continues to be a force with the bat, collecting three more hits which included a double and he scored a run. Palfrey and Garet Crenshaw each had two hits and Raphael Smeenk recorded a pair of RBIs.
The Falcons and Applesox will play a Father’s Day matinee on Sunday at 1:05pm which is also the final game of six straight on the road. The Falcons return home on Tuesday to open a series with the Bellingham Bells and tickets are available HERE.
