Kelowna Falcons

“Right” On!

The Kelowna Falcons snapped their three-game slide on Friday night with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Port Angeles Lefties.

The Falcons jumped out in front in the first inning when Griffin Palfrey knocked in Trey Duffield who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.

Troy Shepard started on the mound for the Falcons and was solid not giving up much to the Lefties’ offence. In the fourth inning however, the visitors would tie it with a solo homerun off the bat of Chanz Doughty, then would take the lead in fifth with an unearned run.

Unphased, Shepard continued to pitch well and lasted six innings, giving up one earned run on eight hits and struck out five in his third win of the summer. Nate Rosser slammed the door over the final three innings and struck out the side in the ninth to record his first save of the season.

The offence was able to score a pair of runs in the sixth inning to retake the lead for good. Jonas Salk led off with a double and eventually would score on an error. Auggie Gutierrez would come across with the winning run after an RBI hit from Luke Solis.

The Falcons and Lefties meet again on Saturday on RCMP Appreciation Night. Get to the ballpark early for a special ceremonial first pitch, before the first batter at 6:35pm. Tickets are available HERE.
