Kelowna Falcons

That Sweeping Feeling

The Kelowna Falcons completed the weekend sweep on Sunday beating the Edmonton Riverhawks 2-1 in front of a great crowd at Elks Stadium to move into first place in the North Division.

There wasn’t a lot of scoring on Sunday night thanks to the pitching on both sides. Griffin Palfrey started for the Falcons and went four innings striking out three, giving up the only run the Riverhawks would score. Koen Vant Klooster (pictured) came out of the pen and was simply outstanding, throwing five innings allowing just one base runner as he fanned 11 batters earning the victory.

The offence scored twice in the third inning, which proved to be just enough as Trevor Wilson and Jacob Devenny crossed the plate.

The win is the second series sweep of the season for the Falcons who now head out on the road for a long trip to Corvallis, Oregon to open a three-game set on Tuesday night. They return to Elks Stadium on Friday to open a three-game series with the Port Angeles Lefties.
