WCL All-Stars

On Thursday, the West Coast League named their 2023 All-Stars, and five Kelowna Falcons are among the top players from this past season.

SECOND-TEAM ALL-WCL

Griffin Palfrey was outstanding showing his versatility hitting, fielding and pitching. As a batter he hit .276 with 43 knocks, six doubles, two homers and 23 RBIs. He was a perfect 5-5 in stolen bases and scored 22 runs. On the bump he made nine appearances, throwing 31.2 innings, striking out 30 with a 1.98 ERA.

Righthander Sam Hall made 10 appearances on the mound, seven of them were starts. He compiled an ERA of 2.41, striking out 45 over the course of 37.1 innings. He finished the season 3-1.

HONOURABLE MENTION

Jonas Salk (pictured) was one of the most talent Falcons in team history both on the field and in the dugout. His attitude and work ethic was contagious and he was often at the park early taking batting practice. His 54 hits ranks in the Falcons top 10 all-time while his 31 RBIs is the sixth most in team history. He batted .312, swiped eight bases and scored 31 runs.

Koen van’t Klooster led the entire WCL with 60 strikeouts as he made 11 appearances on the mound. He tallied three wins and finished with an ERA of 3.88 over the course of 41.2 innings. In a game against Edmonton on July 16th he fanned an incredible 11 batters.

Troy Shepard was a crafty lefty for the Falcons who gave the coaching staff a quality outing each time he took the mound. He finished 2-0 in 10 appearances with a 2.97 ERA and struck out 28 batters over 42.1 innings pitched.
