Nooner Victory

The Kelowna Falcons captured a 2-0 victory over the Edmonton Riverhawks in the first ever nooner game on Thursday.
The game was scoreless through the first six and a half innings before the Falcons’ offence finally broke the tie. Both Michael Montrezza and Matthew Baughn collected RBIs in the bottom of the seventh that would eventually give the Falcons the win.
The pitching staff was outstanding led by starter Jasper Nelson who picked up his third win. He threw seven innings of shutout baseball striking out three. After Dylan Berry threw a scoreless eighth, Hiroyuki Yamada recorded the save in the ninth striking out two batters.
With the win the Falcons move to within a game and a half of a guaranteed playoff spot in the standings behind the Wenatchee Applesox and half a game back of the Victoria Harbourcats.
The Falcons will travel to Bellingham to open a weekend series with the Bells beginning on Friday. They return home on Tuesday to Elks Stadium to welcome the Port Angeles Lefties.
