Kelowna Falcons

Make it Five!

The Kelowna Falcons defeated the Walla Walla Sweets by a score of 10-6. The win is Kelowna’s fifth in a row, one off of their season high record of six.

Kelowna used two big innings to get the job done. They scored six runs in the third inning and then added another four in the fifth for ten total.

James Brooks started for the Falcons and received the win. He went five innings and gave up nine hits and five runs, with four of them being earned. He also walked two and struck out four. Anthony Garcia came in and closed the game out in the ninth and earned the save.

The Falcons got some big offensive contributions from Taylor Wright, Matt Scheffler, Cole Mueller and Trent Tinglestad. Wright hit his 11th home run of the summer and continues to rewrite the Falcons record books.

Bryan Donohue, the Falcons skipper, gave his thoughts on the win. He said, “We had a couple of high scoring innings. We had some hits and got a lot of guys on base. Scheffler got off to a really hot start and had three hits. Right now the way our bullpen is pitching, we can be confident in closer games.”

He also mentioned the start of Brooks saying, “I thought his stuff was pretty electric tonight. He pitched well tonight. It was good to see that. I thought his velocity was up and his breaking ball looked really good. It was a good gritty outing and I’m glad we could help get him the win.”

The Falcons go for the series win Saturday night at 7:05 pm.
