Alvarez Drafted

The Kelowna Falcons congratulate Andrew Alvarez as the latest alumni to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Alvarez had just graduated high school when he made his way north to Kelowna for the summer of 2017. Hailing from Huntington Beach, California he was a lengthy left hander at 6’3, 205 pounds preparing to attend Cal Poly following the summer season.

He threw 19.1 innings for the Falcons that season finishing 1-0 with a 7.44 ERA and fanned 18 batters over the course of 10 appearances. His lone victory was at home against the Bellingham Bells in which he threw four innings and struck-out four in a 7-5 win.

On Tuesday he was taken in the 12th round of the Draft, 353rd overall by the Washington Nationals.

Good luck Andrew chasing your dream of one day pitching in the Major League.

The Falcons are preparing to return to the West Coast League in 2022 and will welcome the next crop of young players on their journey to the Draft.
