Pickle Crushers

The Kelowna Falcons are proud to announce our Player and Pitcher of the Series following the weekend win over the Portland Pickles.

Returning Falcon Konner Palmeira was outstanding over the weekend collecting four hits in the two games he played, scored three runs, picked up a walk and scored Sunday night’s game winning run in the bottom of the ninth. He led off the ninth inning with a single and would eventually come around to score. He was solid at first base on Saturday, then outstanding behind the plate on Sunday in the rubber match with the Pickles. The Falcons won both games he played in.

Reliever Thrasher Steed came out of the bullpen on Saturday in the Falcons 5-3 victory and recorded the win. He threw 2.2 innings against the hot hitting Pickles and completely shut them down. He didn’t allow a run and fanned three batters in his first win of the summer.

The Falcons head out on the road for their next six games, visiting Bellingham, then Wenatchee before returning home on Tuesday June 20th to welcome the Bells.

The club is still looking for a few more billet families with new players arriving following this road trip. Families receive $450 per player, per month along with season tickets and a pretty cool big brother for the rest of the summer. Remember players are on the road for half the time they are here and you don’t need to drive them anywhere.
