Kelowna Falcons

Roady Opens

The Kelowna Falcons open a three-game series in Bellingham on Tuesday night at Joe Martin Stadium with the Bells. This is an important series in the West Coast League’s North Division with the Bells in front of the Falcons by two games.

The Falcons are coming off a very successful homestand winning five of six games including a series sweep over the Nanaimo NightOwls. In particular the offence has swung the bat very well, averaging over 11 hits a game and over six runs.

Jonas Salk leads the West Coast League in average hitting .480 while the team overall is hitting .304, third best across the league.

They will face a Bellingham staff that is at the top of the league in strikeouts (84) and a 1.40 team ERA. They have kept the teams they have faced to a .167 average and have allowed a league low 12 earned runs.

The Bells also have the league’s best record at 8-1 winning each of their first three series beating the Edmonton Riverhawks, Cowlitz Black Bears and most recently the NightOwls.

Where the Bells pitching staff has been dominate, their offence has done just enough. They are struggling at the plate hitting .227 as a team. The Falcons pitching staff with no doubt try and take advantage of that and be aggressive attacking hitters looking to extend their struggles. Keaton Ruthardt will make the start in game one on Tuesday night and will look to set a series tone.
