HarbourCats’ bats sink Falcons

The Kelowna Falcons surrendered 11 hits in an 11-4 loss to the Victoria HarbourCats on Monday.

Despite the lopsided final result, it would be the Falcons who struck first, opening up a 2-0 lead on a Konner Palmeria double and a single by Justin Salk in the second.

Palmeria would drive in another run on a single in the third, giving the Falcons a 3-0 advantage.

However, the HarbourCats’ offence would come to life in the fourth, striking for three runs on a single by Dallas Macias and a hit by pitch.

The 3-3 score would hold until the top of the fifth, when Victoria took its first lead on a single by Jesse Hepburn, then went up by two on a sacrifice fly by Jesse Brown.

The HarbourCats’ big inning would come in the eighth, scoring six more runs on four hits and a couple errors to bring the score to 11-3.

The Falcons would add one more run in the ninth on a wild pitch, however they would ultimately end up on the wrong end of an 11-4 loss.

Victoria pitcher Davis Franklin earned the win, allowing one run over three innings of work, while Kelowna’s Nate Rosser would take home the loss after giving up four runs over 2.1 innings.

The Falcons and HarbourCats will lay game two of their three game series at Elks Stadium tomorrow. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm
