Falcons Lose Game Two

Despite a late surge by the Kelowna Falcons, the Yakima Valley Pippins were able to hold on and win game two of the series by a score of 6-5. The Falcons fell behind early but were able to battle back late in the game. Unfortunately, they were not able to bat the tying run in, despite having numerous chances to do so.

Tanner Knapp, the righy bound for Seattle, was tagged with the loss, which pushes his record to 1-4 on the season. Gavin Velasquez got the win for the Pippins and moved his own record to 7-2. Conner Zwetsch recorded the save.

The Falcons were out-hit for most of the night, but they did finish with a respectable 10 hits. They also made three errors, something that the team knows it needs to cut down on for future games.

With only seven games reaming on the schedule, Kelowna needs to get back to winning if they want to have any shot of making the playoffs. They are in tough against the Bellingham Bells and Walla Walla Sweets, and will face both teams to close out the regular season.

The birds got some quality performances out of a few players. Tevin Mitchell, the short stop out of UC Santa Barbara, was dominant at the plate, with three hits, two runs and a pair of RBI’s.

Max Carter also had a pair of hits and two RBI’s, while AJ Sawyer saw some time as a pitcher and was dominant, pitching a couple of clean sheets and adding a couple of K’s.

On the bump tomorrow for the Falcons is Jake Simmons, the righty out of Walla Walla Community College. He is 4-1 on the season is one of the Falcons most consistent starters.

The Falcons will visit the Bells in Bellingham before returning home to close out the regular season against Walla Walla.
